Fios technology upgrade FAQs
-
Fios has been available in the building. How has it been upgraded?
We have upgraded the Fios® architecture from a Multi-Customer Optical Network Terminal (MC-ONT) design to a Single Family Unit Optical Network Terminal (SFU-ONT) design. The new design provides a 100% fiber-optic connection all the way to your unit. To transfer your service(s) to the new technology, we need to install equipment inside your unit and may need to exchange your router.

Can I move to the new technology and keep the same services I have today?
It depends on the service(s) you have with us today. The data options available will include faster upload/download speeds,* often at no additional cost. Where will the ONT be placed inside my unit?
The ONT is typically installed inside a closet or placed on a desktop. Our technician will consult with you on the placement of the equipment inside your unit.
