It is amazing what people know and don’t know. Ranier was easy for me, but there are Finals about astronomy where I am a fish out of water. Also, in Oceanography I am a fish out of water.

Missed the show entirely, so dependent on the recap.
Had no clue about the FJ answer, but I said Prince Rainier as a desperate guess.
Knew the a-e-i-o-u word from a long time ago. Supposedly the only one with vowels in order.
Some of those stumpers weren’t too impossible. The 1980 Tony winner; hunted animal; California golf tournament. That course is open to the public, but last I heard cost about $500 to play a round, and probably more for a caddie if that’s required.

I can’t believe I forgot “facetious”. That is my go-to word for all the vowels in order.

I didn’t even pick up on what Ken said for Lawrence. I thought he didn’t say what was the solution. In any case, I said “John Paul II”, because I recalled being in residency, at Duke, and there was a bracket for who would be the next Pope. I remember, because, in one spot, they had “Duke”! That was during Duke basketball heydays, and was just after the NCAA tourney, which is what made it funny.

My late wife was a solid Catholic, but even she would not have called any of the popes royalty.

But it was “head of state”, notwithstanding the Cardinals being “princes of the church”. Royalty might have been the category, but the clue wasn’t, and it has been shown that the writers play fast and loose on some of them.

You are correct. The pope is technically a prince.

A tough FJ, and I went for Prince Philip.

A decent guess, but he died in 2021, not 2005.

Tough break for Lawrence. Congratulations to Sam, though. Good luck in the Finals.

We end the week with another triple stumper as today’s final was a tough one thanks to Lawrence being penalized for putting Rainier as a king.

That was a heartbreaker to see that Lawrence was ruled incorrect by putting down Rainier was a king and not a prince. That’s the sort of mistake that the judges will not accept. But Sam survives a scare on this Friday the 13th and becomes our first finalists. We’ll find out who the other two finalists will join him next week.

Here’s a post of 21st Century Monarchy Changes that I intend to update soon. There are several changes due to abdication — Juan Carlos I is one of them.
